Interview 1 - Music
These interviews were
conducted by Ace reporter Martin Bashir, who did interviews with Diana Princess Of Wales,
and the Famous Michael Jackson interview. In this interview Scott talks about his views on
MUSIC
Martin Bashir:
First of all Scott, tell us your fans why you started this site.
Scott Newman: The site is basically there as a place for my fans to come together,
and to find out more about me. .
MB: So what would you say is the most
important thing for you to tell your fans? .
SN: I think the most important message I have for my fans is, Thank You. Thank you
for being my fans, it means a lot to me.
MB: Yes, your fans support you in your
many different ventures. Tell us a bit about them.
SN: I'm writing columns for the Oratory (link in the Links section, duh), and also
doing a lot of work for the oWa e-fed. I write songs, too, and I'm hoping to do something
with them when I'm finished college.
MB: Have you thought about sending any
of your songs away to record companies, or even to local bands?
SN: No, certainly not. I'm a lyricist, but I'm considering taking singing lessons,
because I couldn't have someone using my lyrics to get the spotlight I deserve, you know?
MB: yes I know, Songwriters are very
rarely credited.
MB: so would you sing with a band, or just with a backing CD on?
SN: I'd sing with a band, preferably.
MB: something like Oasis.
SN: Definitely.
MB: Oasis have played a big part in
your life, explain to us how you have shown your devotion to Oasis, without even attending
an Oasis gig.
SN: Well, my uncle leant me a copy of 'Definitely Maybe', back in 1994. I was
hooked from then, bought all their CDs, etc. I haven't managed to get to a gig, for the
simple reason being that I haven't been able to afford it! I'm employed now - so next time
they're in Britain, they'll be able to meet the English Icon in person.
MB: Any word on when they will next be
touring?
SN: Nope, sadly.
MB: Have you been to any other noteable
gigs? Or do you tend to stick with the local acts in your area.
SN: I've seen Effervescent, a local band, a couple of times. but no, not seen any
major bands.
MB: so who would you like to see (apart
from Oasis).
SN: Guns N' Roses, just for the whole laugh.
MB: What are your thoughts on large
rock groups such as Guns N' Roses, Queen and many others?
SN: I think those types of bands need a great frontman to succeed. Like, Queen had
Mercury, the best frontman of all time, and GNR had Axl Rose, a close #2. .
MB: so how does that relate to modern
bands such as Korn, Slipknot and so on.
SN: Ugh.
MB: Ha! I think that expresses your
opinions of them well
SN: Korn, Slipknot and so on, they suck dick. These angsty idiots, they think
they're cool with their 'issues'. I got news for them....they suck. They appeal to the
lowest common denominator, the smelly, rotten student types who wear hoodies. .
MB: So what recent bands would you say
are "Up There" with the likes of Queen and GNR as all time greats.
SN: Umm....to be honest, nobody.
MB: You mean you think that the past
decade and the current one are yet to produce any noteable music artists.
SN: Yeah, apart from Oasis.
MB: Recently we have seen a lot of pop
groups fold, what are your opinions on pop music?
SN: Depends on if they're writing their own songs. If they are, it's cool with me.
But these manufactured idiots who mime, and don't write songs can kiss my arse, cos I got
more talent than all of them.
MB: Do you get fustrated over the fact
people with no talent are famous, yet you are practically unknown on the Brittish music
scene?
SN: Oh yeah, definitely.
SN: But, I got time, and I got the charisma and talent to make it.
MB: Yes, you have a lot of talent yet
you are only 18.
MB: So you have decades in which to prove yourself.
SN: Yep.
MB: Before we rap up this first interview, is
there anything else you'd like to say on music, and your favourite bands?
SN: Eh, look out behind you, because sooner or later, I'll be a megastar....and
you'll simply be the past. hehhehe.
